Help Ukrainians in Irpin with a roof over their heads

OpenDoorUkraine.NL is committed to helping citizens in Irpin restore their homes before winter hits. You can help them by  donating via this link ! This promotion was also shown on NOS TV and website .

The Ukrainian town of Irpin near Kyiv was severely affected by the war in the spring of 2022. The Russian army left a trail of destruction and human suffering behind. The OpenDoorUkraine.NL Foundation needs your support to help the people of Irpin restore their homes.

After the Russian retreat, the residents of Novooskolska Street No. 2 found their only three-year-old apartment building badly damaged. The roof and top floor were completely destroyed by Russian rockets and tank shells. According to a technical evaluation by the municipality, the residential block can be rebuilt, but the municipality has no money for this. And the hundreds of billions that will be needed to rebuild Ukraine after the war are still a long way off.

Meanwhile, the residents of Novooskolska Street No. 2 are not giving up. They formed a homeowners association (HOA) and hired a local construction company to begin the repair work. Water, electricity and other facilities have now been restored and 26 of the forty flats have been made habitable again.

The residents pay part of the costs themselves. But without external financing, they will not be able to complete the roof in time before winter hits. And without a roof, they cannot connect gas to heat the flats, and water leaks threaten to make the entire building uninhabitable again.

OpenDoorUkraine.NL (ODU), a Dutch ANBI foundation, hopes to raise 50,000 euros for this. With this we can not only help these people in Irpin with a roof over their heads, but also support civil initiatives of other Ukrainian citizens who want to restore their homes.

Will you help? We will pass on your contributions directly to the VvE in Irpin and maintain close contact with them to monitor the progress of the work. The self-reliance and commitment of Ukrainians to rebuild their own homes, settlements and country deserves our support!
