Creating and renovating accommodation centers for displaced people.
The project in Trostianets responds to the urgent need to create and renovate accommodation centers to house internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have sought refuge from conflict zones, including Kharkiv, and other war-affected regions. Trostianets and surrounding villages have become a refuge for around 1,500 displaced people, many of whom are elderly and economically disadvantaged families living in precarious conditions.
In response to this humanitarian crisis, the Hromada Trostianets started a program to renovate and renovate two buildings in the villages of Derbove and Martyninka. These centers are part of a broader effort to establish five facilities that can provide temporary, dignified housing conditions for internally displaced persons.
Status:
Completed (March-June 2023)
Financial information:
- ODU Contribution: EURO 27,500 (Source: Refugee Foundation)
- Local authorities and other donors: 40,000 euros
Target group and results:
The completion of the project has resulted in the establishment of two community centers with modern facilities, which can now provide temporary shelter for 36 displaced people. These centers provide a safe and supportive environment for displaced people, including the elderly and families with children, who were living in difficult conditions.
In addition to providing immediate shelter, these centers serve as a beacon of hope for those displaced from their homes. They represent a commitment to providing dignified living conditions and support to those in need. Importantly, these centers not only provide a solution for the present, but also offer potential for future use in housing older people in the Trostianets district in need of social care.
