ODU and LLU complete restoration of residential building in Irpin

Open Door Ukraine is pleased to announce that after the roof repair, the facade and insulation work of our second project in Irpin ‘Pushkinskiy Kvartal’ has now also been successfully completed. About 200 residents, including refugees, can now return to their flats in this building that was badly damaged by Russian shelling in the first weeks of the war. For these people it means that they are back home and can resume their lives despite the continued Russian aggression.

We are grateful for the support we have received from other partners involved in this project, such as the local government, Oxfam International, and Life Line Ukraine,  which provided insulation material from the Netherlands.

ODU and LLU are also working together on other early reconstruction projects, such as the roof restoration of a regional hospital in Vilniansk (Zaporizhe province) that was severely damaged by a Russian missile attack. About 40,000 patients per year in this region depend on this hospital for their care, not far from the current frontline.

In another project, LLU supplies high-quality wall panels from the Netherlands for the construction of five new family houses in the village of Novoselivka near the city of Chernihiv. This pilot project has almost ended and ODU is seeking additional funding to help more families from this village that was almost completely destroyed.

ODU’s collaboration with LLU and other partners underlines our shared commitment to support the Ukrainian people in times of war by contributing to early reconstruction of homes and buildings of great social significance, such as schools and hospitals, in the areas affected by the conflict.
