The OpenDoorUkraine.nl Foundation is proud to announce that we have joined forces with the Solidarity Charitable Foundation to continue implementing the Veteran Mental Health Center Of Excellence (VMHCE) construction project.
From now on, we are moving forward together — OpenDoorUkraine.nl (Yulia Skrypka), Federation for Global Initiative in Psychiatry (FGIP) (Robert van Voren, Victorya Lymar), Solidarity Charitable Foundation (Mathieu-Marie Arden, Ilya Rakhmanov), and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Larisa Sokhatiuk).
As part of this new phase, all construction and renovation work will now be carried out by the Solidarity Foundation. At the same time, OpenDoorUkraine.nl will continue to participate in the project implementation process.
Before joining forces, OpenDoorUkraine.nl implemented the key preparatory and infrastructure phase of the project.
In particular, we:
– Conducted a large-scale survey of veteran centers throughout Ukraine to base the space on the real needs of the community.
– Prepared a complete technical documentation package.
– Developed a comprehensive design project with visualizations.
– Completely dismantled the floor together with our wonderful partners — “Brave to Rebuild” and “Dobrobat.”
– Completed roof repairs before the winter period, which allowed us to maintain the pace of further work.
The Solidarity charitable foundation joined the project, providing additional funding to ensure the center is completed to the highest standard and as quickly as possible.
We hold regular joint working meetings and coordinate further steps. Our common goal is to implement the center in accordance with high standards: to create a high-quality, well-designed, and fully functional space to help veterans and their families, where leading mental health professionals will work.
