Rebuilding Ukraine: innovation, environmental friendliness, sustainability

The OpenDoorUkraine.NL team visited KyivBuild Ukraine 2025, one of the country’s leading construction exhibitions. The event brought together experts, investors and industry representatives to discuss the future of construction in Ukraine.

The forum-workshop “Reconstruction in Action 3.0”, which took place on 19 February 2025, presented state and international programmes for the restoration of the affected areas, as well as implemented community reconstruction projects. Particular attention was drawn to the panel discussions on financing of reconstruction and community development projects during the war, as well as discussions of barrier-free access and adopting EU 2030 construction standards on energy efficiency .

We focused on finding sustainable solutions for circular reconstruction, including the use of renewable materials, the implementation of European standards in construction, and the development of energy-efficient technologies.

Circular construction is not only about the environment, but also about accessibility. Reusing materials and implementing the principles of the circular economy helps to significantly reduce the cost of construction, making housing more affordable.

For OpenDoorUkraine.NL, it is important not just to build, but to create durable, comfortable and energy-efficient buildings that reduce heating and electricity costs.

We thank the organisers for the opportunity to join this important event and exchange experience with leading industry experts!
